Wireline Coring in California and Nevada
Soil and rock core samples for environmental and geotechnical projects, from CME and GEFCO rigs equipped for wireline coring. Our own rigs and crews since 1982.

Wireline coring comes from mineral exploration, where it is known for speed and accuracy. We use modified wireline systems to bring the same method to environmental and geotechnical work. These jobs often need samples from loose soil and from rock, so our crews adapt fast when the geology changes.
Soil and rock
Unlike mining work, environmental and geotechnical borings often pass through both. We bring the tooling and the people to switch quickly.

Consolidated formations
Continuous or interval sampling
Sampling that follows ASTM standards

The rigs that do this work
-

CME 75HT
Short wheelbase truck for tight job sites, with a fast wireline winch for sampling.
-

CME 85
Brute force for cobbles and tough conglomerates, with angle drilling and a fast wireline winch.
-

CME 95HT
The most powerful HSA rig available. It also runs mud, air rotary and wireline coring.
-

GEFCO Speedstar 40K and 50K-CH
Topdrive air and mud rotary rigs that also run wireline coring, with a 1,400 gallon mud cleaning system.

Common questions
-
No. Wireline coring takes soil and rock samples from a borehole for environmental and geotechnical work. Coring through concrete is part of our Concrete Cutting Services.
-
Yes. Environmental and geotechnical jobs often need samples from loose soil and from rock. Our modified wireline systems and tooling let the crew adapt as the geology changes.
-
Yes. We run compact mud systems built for tight urban wireline coring jobs, and short wheelbase truck rigs for tight job sites.
